Scoring Instructions
There are 4 possible points awarded in each match. 1 point for each individual head-to-head match, and 2 points for team match.
All scoring is based on match play, not stroke. Therefore, it is possible to shoot a lower score than your opponent and still lose your match against them. Total strokes will be used only for handicapping purposes in the league.
Example Card
In this card, both Blair and Sam will each get strokes from Matt and Bob. They each receive the difference between their opponents and their own handicaps; 5 and 9 in this particular match. These strokes are then applied to the toughest handicapped holes first, until there are no more strokes to give. The handicapped holes are shown for White (mens) and Red (womens) tees.
The lower the number, the harder the hole. For each side of the course you play, you will either see all even or all odd handicapped hole numbers. In this case, all even. Individual strokes given are shown with a circle on the scorecard, on the holes they are applied.
Team strokes given are shown with an X to the team receiving strokes. The amount of these strokes is the difference in combined handicaps between the teams. In this case Team #3 has a total of 21 strokes compared to 7 strokes for Team #13. So, Team #3 gets 14 strokes which are applied as well to the highest handicapped hole first. If more than 9 strokes are given in either individual match or team match, then start applying 2 strokes starting again at the highest handicapped hole.
NOTE: If there is a female player in the group facing a male, there are a few changes.
-
If female player has lower handicap than her male opponent, then the white handicap holes are used to give strokes.
-
If female player has higher handicap than her male opponent, then the red handicap holes are used to give strokes.
-
When the holes "Par" is different, like hole 14 below, the winner of the hole is whoever shoots best according to their par. Example: If female player shoots a 6 on the par 5 and the male shoots a 6 on the par 4, the female would win the hole, even though they both shot a 6 on the hole. This also means the team match play for that hole is adjusted in the same way.

How to score the match is shown below for the first two holes of the match.
+ and - signs are used to denote a win or loss of the hole.
