Week 14 - Pressure Putts

The closer to the end of the season, the more I've noticed a decline in "gimme" putts each round. 2 footers, any putts for par, and putts the last 2 holes...they are all being played out. As Lee puts it, "I gotta make you putt that man, sorry." (dont believe him, he's not sorry) Those tap ins are looking a little longer than normal for those in contention still. And i expect the trend to continue down the stretch as we finish out the regular season.

Leading the way last night was Jake Wiemer, who posted a 38(33), which included two birdies on the round. Nice work. If not for a collapse the last 3 holes, their team would've taken 4 points and have a full 1 pt lead heading into the last two weeks of regular season play. Nice work Detrie!

Also besting his handicap by 3 was T Hahn, (44/33), who continues his chase for mens points leader, at only 0.5 pts behind our leaders Shay and Devlin. Sue Hopkins took over sole possession of first for the women last night, and also holds a 0.5 pt lead over the competition. It's still anyone's to take.

A quick look at the standings, and nothing is decided yet, as 9 teams are still in the running to make the 4 team playoff with 2 weeks left. Some need more help than others, but no one has clinched a spot yet, and its unlikely they will until after two rounds, as the difference between 1st and 7th is only 3 points. The "Game of the Week" next week will feature Team Butler/Knittel vs. Team Zupcak/Hahn. The two teams are tied in the standings in 5th place, and a 4-0 sweep could potentially end ones chances of making it to the Final Four. Good luck.
